The admission standard

A written statement of no more than 200 words is submitted for each sub-criterion claimed.

Impact on the IT Profession
Beyond eligibility, every applicant must show measurable achievement in the field and demonstrate excellence in at least three of the following ten sub-criteria.
Professional excellence
§3.1.1–§3.1.2
A degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or three years of documented professional experience. Current professional engagement in the industry, and specialised knowledge in at least one information technology domain. No conviction for any computer-related crime or professional ethical violation, and commitment to the Association’s Professional Code of Ethics.

§3.1
What is required
Assessment is made solely against the criteria in Article III of the Charter. No factor outside those criteria is taken into account at any stage.
Note
Council membership is not open to public application. Candidates must be Associate Members in good standing and be nominated by an existing Council Member or the Managing Member. Council Members sit on the Expert Review Committee.
§6.2
A committee of not fewer than three Council Members decides within thirty days of a complete application. Appeal lies to the Managing Member.
§3.3
Decision
The Expert Review Committee assesses evidence quality, authenticity as confirmed by supporters, and alignment with the Association’s mission.
§3.5
Evaluation
A work-related supporter validates the claimed experience; an existing member verifies the applicant meets the Association’s standards. One person may do both.
